Introduction This Robinson family starts for us in 1843 with the marriage of Ann Catherine Robinson with John Greaves, where her father was given as Henry Robinson, a tea dealer. M_1843
This information was enough to find her birth in 1812 in the IGI (the print-out version of the time) giving her mother's name as Catherine Clapham, and the marriage of her parents in 1811. B_1812
Correspondence with the BIHR then produced the marriage bond and entry of marriage, which give Henry's age as 40 or more, Catherine Clapham's as 30 or more, and her residence before marriage as Carlton Hall, Snaith. To this day, I have not found out any more about Catherine Clapham. M_1811b
Henry was given as a widower, which led to the information about his previous marriage with Hannah Croft in 1800, and information on the Crofts, Henry and Hannah's children, etc. M_1800
None of this information provides obvious clues as to Henry's origins.
There was, though, a Henry Robinson born in Spofforth in 1768, son of Anthony Robinson of Ribson, which might be him - and Spofforth is where the Greaves were living at the time. B_1768
This Anthony Robinson, of Great Ribson, had married an Ann Bell in Doncaster in 1765. M_1765
And Anthony could be the one baptised in Spofforth in 1744, son of John Robinson of Wetherby. B_1744
John Robinson is probably the John Robinson of Thorner (about 8 miles south of Spofforth), who married a Mary Smith in Spofforth in 1743 M_1743
John Robinson's wife Mary seems to have died about 6 moths after giving birth to Anthony. D_1745
And it was probably the same John Robinson who married Rebecca Greaves in 1752. M_1752
If so, then it was John Robinson's great-granddaughter (Ann Catherine Robinson) who married the great-grandson of Rebecca Greaves' father's namesake (John Greaves) in 1841!
This is not proof, but it does seem likely to be true - pending further information such as wills for John or Anthony Robinson, or other.

Proofs Proofs

Edward Greaves son of John Greaves and Catherine formerly Robinson was born on 1 February 1845 in Harrogate. PP_20
John Greaves and Anne Catherine Robinson were married in 1843 in York, where her age is given as 'full'. Her father is given as Henry Robinson, a tea dealer. M_1843
John Greaves and Anne Catherine formerly Robinson had 5 children between 1845 and 1853 in Harrogate and Bradford, including Edward in 1845. B_1845
Ann C. Greaves is listed in the 1851 census aged 38 and born (c. 1812) in York, Yorkshire C_1851
The will of Henry Robinson, tea dealer in York in 1841 mentions his daughter Anne Catherine Robinson. W_1841
The will of John Greaves in 1875 in Bradford mentions his son Edward, and wife Anne Catherine. W_1875
