PP_287 That Ann Mayhew (287) was the mother of Jane Wastell (143)
Jane daughter of John Wastell (Wastal) of Bethnal Green, weaver and Ann, was baptised on 12 August 1745 in St. Dunstan, Stepney. B_1745
John and Ann Wastell had 8 or 9 children between 1730 and 1750 baptised in St. Dunstan Stepney or St. Matthew Bethnal Green, including Peter in 1737 and Charity in 1747.
John and Ann Mayhew married in St. Dunstan Stepney on 12 August 1730. M_1730
An Ann Mayhew was baptised in St. Dunstan Stepney on 24 July 1711, the daughter of Peter and Charity Mayhew - so this is undoubtedly John Wastell's wife. B_1711
John Wastell died in 1752. D_1752
This is confirmed on the marriage of Jane Wastell and Thomas Smart in 1765, which was with the consent of Ann Wastell, Jane's mother. M_1765
Ann Wastell died in 1787 aged 77 years (born c. 1710), further confirming that she was the Ann Mayhew baptised in 1711. D_1787
So the mother of Jane Wastell (143),
Ann Mayhew (287), born in 1711 in Stepney,
married to John Wastell (286) in 1730 in Stepney,
died in  in , was the daughter of
Peter Mayhew (574), and Charity (575). PP_574

PP_574 That Peter Mayhew (574) was the father of Ann Mayhew (287)
Ann daughter of Peter and Charity Mayhew was baptised in St. Dunstan Stepney on 24 July 1711. PP_287
Peter and Charity Mayhew (spelled Mahu, Mahue, Mayhew, or similar) had 11 children baptised in St. Dunstan Stepney between 1701 and 1719, including Ann in 1711. B_1711
Peter Mayhew of Bethnal Green, weaver, and Charity Conyer, spinster, married in St. Dunstan Stepney on 25 March 1700. M_1700
Just 5 months earlier earlier, on 21 October 1699, Jane wife of Peter Mehue of Bethnal Green weaver was buried in St. Dunstan Stepney. D_1699
Peter Mahue (spelles Mahu, Mahue or Mehue) and Jane had 5 children baptised in St. Dunstan Stepney between 1684 and 1697.
One of these children was Abraham Mahu baptised in 1688. B_1688
This Abraham, son of Peter Mayhew of Bethnal Green weaver died in 1704. D_1704
That Peter and Charity Mayhew named their next child Abraham in 1705 confirms that the same Peter was the father - so he was the widower of Jane when he married Charity in 1700. B_1705
Peter Mayhew may be the Pierre, son of Pierre le Mahieu and Susane born in Canterbury in 1663. B_1663
This Peter Mahieu's godmother was the wife of a certain Philip Mannake - and our Peter Mayhew was in the same church on the same day as the baptism of Benjamin, son of Philip Mannake, possibly son of the Philip Mannake in Canterbury. This may partially confirm that our Peter Mayhew was born in Canterbury in 1663 B_1699
So the father of Ann Mayhew (287),
Peter Mayhew (574), born in 1663 in Canterbury,
married to Charity Conyers (575) in 1700 in Stepney, PP_575
died in 1746 in Bethnal Green, was the son of
Pierre Mahue (1148), and Susanne (1149). PP_1148

PP_1148 That Pierre Mahue (1148) was the father of Peter Mayhew (574)

Manaké, Benjamin, fils de Philipe M., weaver, et Judy, sa femme, dans Booth Street, paroisse Stepney, dans Spitalfields. Tém. Benjamin de Dier, Marie Nepheu. Juill 23.
CRW: The above puts a Pierre Mahue and a Philipe Manake at the same place and at the same time, as happened in Canterbury in 1663. This could be 'our' Pierre Mahue in both cases. Is this more than a coincidence? B_1663
