Scope and Content  
Lease for six months by William Culcheth of Midlewich [Middlewich], Cheshire, mercer, to Francis [Newport, 1st] Earl of Bradford, of a parcel of land lying in The Little Parke Mosse alias Whelkley Parke Mosse in Minshull Vernon.  
THIS INDENTURE made the fifteenth day of May in the third year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Anne by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland Queen Defender of the faith etc. Anno Domini 1704 BETWEEN William Culcheth of Middlewich in the county of Chester Mercer of the one part And the Right Honourable Francis Earl of Bradford on the other part WITNESS that the said William Culcheth As well for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings of lawful English money to him in hand paid by the said Earl at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents The receipt whereof he the said William Culcheth does hereby acknowledge & confess himself therewith fully satisfied As also for diverse other good causes and considerations him the said William Culcheth hereunto especially meaning? he the said William Culcheth HAS bargained and sold and by these presents does bargain and set unto the said Earl his executors administrators and assigns ALL that parcel of land lying in a common or parcel of ground called the Little Park Mosse or Whelkley Mosse in Minshull Vernon aforesaid containing by estimation three roods of land in breadth and sixty roods in length or thereabouts the length beginning at a hedge there called the Little Park Hedge lying on the west side of the Little Park Mosse and ending at another Mosse there called Warmingham Mosse on the east side and the breadth from another hedge there which divides the Little Park Mosse and a messuage adjoining to the same Little Park Mosse called the great Park Mosse together ? with free liberty power and authority to and for the said Earl his heirs & assigns to ding? delve and get turf and turves and to make a causeway? whereupon to reare? and dry the said turves and with free liberty of ingress egress and regress for him and them into and from the said Little Park Mosse to take drive and carry away the said turves (after they are made and dried) in & with their cattle carts and carriages at his and their pleasure forever And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of all and ? the aforesaid premises TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said parcel of land Mosse or Mosse rooms hereditaments liberties and all other the hereby bargained and sold or intended to be bargained and sold premises with the appurtenances and the reversion and reversions remainder & remainders thereof unto him the said Earl his executors administrators and assigns from the day next before the date hereof for and during the full term & terms of six months thence next ensuing and fully to be complete and ended to the intent and purpose that by virtue hereof and of the statute for transferring uses into possession he the said Earl may be in the actual possession of all and singular the aforesaid premises and thereby be enabled to accept and take a grant or release of the reversion and inheritance thereof unto him and his heirs IN WITNESS whereof the parties aforesaid to these present indentures their hands and seals have interchangeably set the day and year above written
